A day in the lock down life of Nerusha .....
The idea to do this post came from a beautiful friend of mine, she has been an inspiration to me, her charisma and charm as well as her ability to bring people together has won the hearts of many, thank you Ru, for the idea to do a day in my lock down life π
Today is officially day 37 of the South African lock down and I am going to take you with me through my day to hopefully illustrate that each day is be a blessing and we should make the most of it, live it to the fullest and end up feeling satisfied and content at the end of it.
Morning Blessings
Waking up to a beautiful sunrise is the very first blessing of my day, firstly waking up and secondly being greeted with the warm rays of the sun coming through my window, how can you not want to wake up and appreciate that π The glorious reminder that nature gives us, that a new day has dawned, teaching us that we have a new start, new beginnings and we can also start afresh with new opportunities.
I had to share the beautiful scenery of the morning and will continue to share pictures and videos of my day. I am an incredibly private person so I have had to dig deep to do this, but I do believe that it will help loved ones, family and friends through this lock down so here goes π
Workout Time
Its just past 6 am and I'm off to wash my face and get ready for my workout. I am fortunate to be a morning person (3rd blessing), so the early start works for me and I feel like I have a burst of energy so why not put that to really good use.π
Howdy guys, welcome to the kitchen workouts LOL......
Working out in the morning sets the tone for my day and the energy levels are kept high, my mood is improved and I approach the day with positive feelings so I really encourage it. I spend roughly 20 -30 mins in the morning working out, but whatever works for you, there are no hard and fast rules here. I also like to multitask which is possibly more a female thing, so while working out I shall be doing some laundry too π
So here goes, you are going to get a peak of me doing my workout so be nice, its an indoor one, and as you can see I am doing it in my kitchen. We are just getting the blood pumping and the heart rate up, and your body releases endorphins which triggers a positive feeling in the body among its other benefits.
This morning I completed the following workouts on Youtube, by Jessica Smith and I find them to be great for confined spaces and it really gives you a great workout, if you guys would like to try them the links are below.
And of course as I was finishing my workout I got a visitor that thought he was invited to come inside , to my horror of course, but I told him to go back in his tree, he can visit from there. π
Prayer and Meditation Time
One of the things I learnt from my ma (4th blessing) is the importance of prayer, she taught me to light a candle for all loved ones, family, friends and the world, so this is the next thing I do before I meditate. This gesture is to light the path for those near and far, to guide and protect them and to send them light and healing. We may not see them, we may not communicate daily and we may not even know them, but to say an all encompassing prayer for the well being of all Gods creation will take nothing away from us.
Time for some meditation, exercise for the mind (5th blessing)π
I am currently going through the 21 day Hope meditation, a program setup by Oprah and Deepak Chopra, I am doing this one for the second time now in anticipation for the next one. I have found it to be incredibly life changing in terms of how I think and my approach to life. It has certainly allowed me to open up more to my loved ones, family, friends even extending myself beyond that.
This particular program helped me to unleash my inner voice and everything I would think, but found hard to verbalize, its helped me develop a certain inner strength to trust myself and really try hard to obtain a higher level of self awareness.
This is a journey and one that I am pleased to be on, its a journey of self discovery and growth, and I wish the same for all. I believe that each person is on their own journey and no two people can be compared. The importance lies in doing what works for you and taking one step at a time, allow your heart to guide you and you will surely reach your destination, but enjoy the beauty along the way.
Sometimes we are so busy in our hectic lives that we do not take the time to observe the beauty around us, the animals that come to us, birds that would love some bread, butterflies that gracefully pass by our windows, even the monkeys that are so keen to visit, if only to raid our fridge π (6th blessing)
Lately we have had some interesting weather, all beautiful in its own right. One day stood out for me particularly where the day was so beautiful and sunny, like listening to the most melodious song where you feel like nothing else could make it any better and then the rain joined in, making it even more incredible, like diamonds falling from the sky. Take a look at the amazing display of nature just on our doorstep. (7th blessing)
Breakfast Time - 7:30 am
Breakfast is the most important meal of the and I really miss my breakfasts at work, we are so fortunate to be provided with meals (8th blessing). Today however I am keeping it simple and light in the hope it will make up for the rest of my day, which could go either way, lets stay positive on that one π So muesli and yogurt it is.......
Study time - 8 am
I am currently working towards a Microsoft Database Administration certification so I have an exam coming up. The rest of my morning will be spent catching up on some studying and reading up on the relevant topics, I am so blessed that my employer invests in learning and empowering staff and I am able to pursue this opportunity to further my skills. (9th blessing)
If you have been given such opportunities, I encourage you to make the most of it. Life is short and we need to take opportunities to improve, grow and learn in whichever area interests us. Life becomes more fulfilling when you invest in your passion and when you focus on growth because you feel like you moving forward, this is an inherent need in human beings, the ability to evolve and grow.
Dare to challenge yourself, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you achieve!!!
Tea time - 10 am
Okay so for me breaks are incredibly important, to stretch my legs and focus on something else, for me that something else is a nice cup of tea with some cheese and chip biscuits, yum (10th blessing...it counts okay)π
Anything with cheese and Simba chips is a wicked combination, so if you want the recipe leave a comment on my blog, my emoji is on my mug.......
Now back to the studies....I'm hoping to get another good session in.
Lunch time - 12:30 pm
I had a good study session and now I'm hungry, time to whip up something for lunch π
I am trying to eat light but being at home makes that 110 times harder, nevertheless i shall persevere with a smoked chicken, cheese, lettuce and tomato wrap. (11th blessing)
Relaxation time - 1:30 pm
What a lovely lite lunch, now for some chill time, relax, listen to some music, maybe watch some TV, and chat to my friends and family.
I spoke to my ma as well as my dad, we speak almost every day and this is truly a blessing, the love and care they show especially over this period gives me strength. (12 blessing)
I wanted to try a new recipe for awhile now so here is my chance. Cheese and sweetcorn muffins, this will make for some fantastic teatime snacks for the next week.
Its around 5 pm and I have my muffins in the oven and I'm waiting now for them to bake to perfectionπ
I'm standing on my balcony, admiring the afternoon sky, its so captivating as the sun sets, the hue of the sky turns peach and the gradient achieved gives you this feeling of tranquility just by staring at it. The beauty of nature still amazes me. (13th blessing)
The muffins are out.The aroma filling my entire flat, a feeling of home which also makes me reminisce about when my family were over, and wishing I could share these with them. I miss the days where we would sit in my kitchen and have tea and muffins, and times when I would make colorful flapjacks with fresh cream and syrup, truly memories to be appreciated and grateful for. (14th blessing)
Movie Night - Supper Time 7 pm
Okay tonight is a chick flick on the menu, "The Daters Handbook" how appropriate. I really just want to sit back, relax and have my left overs supper without having to really concentrate on a hectic movie, so this one will have to do. By "left overs supper", I meant creamed spinach and mushrooms with chickpea and soya mince curry and rice, a truly weird combination, but hey it worked....I consider it a blessing to have a plate of food. (15th blessing)
The day is coming to an end and I have a sense of contentment knowing that I made the most of my day, doing activities that makes me happy, and makes me grow as a person. As I took you through my day I counted my blessings, and I'm sure there are a lot more if I looked a little closer. The point I was trying to make is that we have so much to be grateful for and we are all blessed in different ways. An attitude of gratitude will enable you to attract what you need and not what you want, this will serve you well in your life because the benefits are long lasting and contribute to a more peaceful life.
It may not be an extraordinary day to most but for me I feel like I accomplished what I wanted to. During this lock down where most feel like they just wish the day would end, I tend to feel slightly sad because there is more I could have done, but like all good things each beautiful day must come to an end and make way for the next day to break.
It is with this thought that I leave you to think about your tomorrow, knowing that tomorrow will be a new day, fresh with new possibilities and new opportunities, what will you do tomorrow? And will you make the most of it? Which opportunity will you seize?
This quote rings in my head, perhaps you can absorb it up too π
“In order to attain the impossible, one must attempt the absurd.” – Miguel de Cervantes
Take care and lots of love,
